ABOUT THE COMMITTEE
The Local Bioethics Committee (LBC) of the National Laboratory Astana is an advisory body established in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Institution's internal regulations.

The Committee protects the rights, safety, and well-being of research participants and researchers, conducts ethical review of scientific studies involving humans and animals, and monitors compliance with ethical standards throughout the research process


MISSION AND OBJECTIVES
Mission
To monitor research projects involving human participants and animals conducted by NLA researchers and collaborators and ensure their compliance with ethical standards and institutional procedures.

  • Protection of the rights, safety, and welfare of research participants
  • Protection of animal welfare in research
  • Ethical review of research projects
  • Monitoring of approved research activities
  • Promotion of responsible research practices
  • Compliance with international ethical standards and institutional SOPs
What We Do
TYPES OF REVIEW
Exempt Review
Projects that do not involve human participants or vertebrate animals and therefore may be exempt from ethical review
Expedited Review
Minimal-risk research projects are reviewed without convening a full Committee meeting.
Full Committee Review
Studies involving moderate or greater-than-minimal risk require review by the Committee.
