In summer 2014, fieldwork was carried out in southern regions of Kazakstan for collecting biological samples from Kazak populations.
General Info about the Lab:
Laboratory for Population Genetics at NLA, NU (LPG@NU) undertakes research projects, which aim to understand human population history and evolution, with special reference to the genetic characteristics and origins of ethnic groups in Central Asia. Meanwhile, LPG@NU carries out ancient DNA projects so as to gain insights into genetic makeup of ancient human populations lived in Kazakstan and Central Asia, and find answers to the questions regarding the origins of Turkic and Altaic peoples. Research projects of LPG@NU are usually comprised of fieldwork for collecting biological samples and lab work for performing molecular genetic analyses.
