Ongoing research collaborations

Biomedical Campus of Rome, Politecnico di Torino (Italy), Fiber-optic sensing technologies for thermal and pressure profiling of thermal ablation, and its quantitative outcome. Prototypes based on several fiber optic technologies; established test methodology ex vivo and in vitro. Co-authored several papers including an invited paper in 2018.

Parthenope University, Federico II University (Italy) Fiber-optic sensing technologies for thermal monitoring in radiofrequency ablation with burst-ablation ex vivo on humans. Reported results in 3 papers, and established test methodology.

Universidad Politecnica de Valencia (Spain) Microwave photonics-based sensors for distributed detection. One co-authored journal paper; proposal for design of extended distributed biomedical strain sensors.

Politecnico di Milano (Italy), Design of a pressure probe with inner temperature compensation, fabricated in a micro-catheter for percutaneous application  Prototype design, and roadmap to apply probe in thermal ablation of soft tumors.

OPI Photonics (Italy), Development of a system for laser ablation integrating a fiber for delivery and a temperature sensor. Co-authored several journal papers, prototype of a laser-sensor integrated system for thermal ablation.

Dallara Automobili (Italy), Real-time monitoring of carbon-fiber composite materials in racing cars, Developed and tested prototypes of fiber optic sensors for vibration/strain analysis in CFC. Co-authored one paper.

Gimac (Italy), Extruded material manufacturing for the development of a catheter hosting a miniature fiber-optic sensor, Achieved design of a catheter prototype, suitable for biocompatibility standards (ISO 10993) and safety standards (IEC 60601).
